What it does

IONOS Cloud vCPU Servers are virtual machines hosted in IONOS Cloud data centers. Configure a server visually in the Data Center Designer (DCD), or automate creation and management through the IONOS Cloud API and SDKs. The product supports standalone use or combination with other IONOS Cloud services, with flexible vCPU and RAM allocation.

Build the server inside a virtual data center

The DCD workflow starts by opening Virtual Data Centers and selecting a data center. In Canvas mode, drag a vCPU Server from the Palette into the workspace, then configure its settings in the Inspector pane. The setup guide notes that an account owner, contract administrator, or user with the Create Data Center privilege can provision the environment; read-only users cannot make those changes.

This is a composable cloud VM rather than a one-click app host. It suits a staging machine, private service, or other workload where you need control over the virtual data-center layout. The same server lifecycle can be automated with the IONOS Cloud API or SDKs.

Strengths

  • A server can be configured in DCD or managed through the documented API and SDKs.
  • The setup guide exposes resource settings in a visual data-center workspace and permits flexible vCPU and RAM allocation.

Watch out for

  • Creating a virtual data center requires an owner, administrator, or user granted the Create Data Center privilege; other users are read-only.

Best for

  • Teams that need configurable cloud VMs and control over their virtual data-center layout.
  • Infrastructure workflows that provision servers through DCD, the IONOS Cloud API, or SDKs.
