What it does

Netlify Web Analytics uses hosted-project CDN logs to report pageviews, IP-based unique visitors, sources, bandwidth and missing resources. Views update hourly, with available history depending on the Netlify plan.

Netlify Web Analytics reads a deployed project's server logs without adding a browser tracking script. It can therefore report requests even when a visitor blocks browser analytics or does not run JavaScript.

A Netlify account and deployed project are required. In the project's dashboard, open Analytics & metrics > Analytics and enable the service. The reports show pageviews, visitors, top pages and sources, missing resources and bandwidth, with hourly updates.

Current plan Included analytics history
Free 1 day
Personal 7 days
Pro 30 days

Free is a continuing plan; the longer windows accompany paid subscriptions. Older add-on billing arrangements can have different terms.

Pageview and bandwidth charts count different things. Pageviews include successful HTML responses, while bandwidth also includes assets and errors. The missing-resource report helps identify requests for broken images or old URLs.

Unique visitors are based on IP addresses. Daily, hourly and whole-period totals use their respective aggregation windows, so adding daily unique counts will not reproduce the period's unique total.

Strengths

  • Reports hosted-project requests without a separate browser tracking script.
  • Separates missing resources and bandwidth from successful pageviews.

Watch out for

  • Requires a deployed Netlify project.
  • The Free plan exposes only one day of analytics history.

Best for

  • Teams investigating traffic and missing resources on Netlify-hosted sites
