What it does
DuckDuckGo's browser includes third-party tracker blocking, cookie-popup handling and integrated private-search features for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.
DuckDuckGo Browser includes third-party tracker blocking and automatic attempts to select privacy-preserving choices in cookie pop-ups. It is free on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, with separate paid subscription protections such as a VPN.
Optional free Sync & Backup covers bookmarks, passwords and Duck.ai chats. DuckDuckGo says the data is encrypted end to end and it cannot access the encryption key. To restore after losing a device, you need its Recovery Code or another device with Sync already enabled. If you lose every synced device and the code, DuckDuckGo cannot recover the data. Keep the code private because it contains the master decryption key.
Turning off Sync on one device leaves local and server data in place. To remove the server copy, use Settings > Sync & Backup > Turn Off Sync and Delete Server Data; local data stays on your devices. If all devices stop accessing the backup, its encrypted server copy expires after eighteen months.
