What it does
Elastic Path provides modular commerce capabilities for complex catalogs, business accounts, storefronts, and buying workflows. Its platform includes rule-based catalogs, price books, buyer tools, and connected commerce services.
An account-specific catalog changes what a customer sees without duplicating the product records. Elastic Path catalog rules can choose a catalog release, price books, and a search profile. For example, a reseller can search an approved assortment while receiving its agreed prices. Search-profile validity is checked when a search runs, so saving a rule alone does not prove that the intended filter is working.
For a merchandising team with limited responsibilities, open Settings > Team > Roles, choose Custom roles, and select + New custom role. Name the role, assign No access, View, or Manage to each permission group, then Create. Assign it when inviting or editing a team member. Organization-owned roles are read-only in individual stores; duplicate one to make an editable store copy. Role changes can take an hour and require the user to sign out and back in.
The platform has an annual minimum term. Its order-based range is:
| Tier | Annual order scope |
|---|---|
| Entry | Up to 15,000 orders |
| Professional | More than 15,000 orders |
| Enterprise | From 150,000 orders |
GMV-based and custom business metrics are alternatives. Business users are not charged per seat. Implementation is scoped separately, with 40 expert-service hours included in the first year. Subscriptions + Entitlements is a separately priced addition, so specify that requirement in the proposal.
Strengths
- Catalog rules separate the assortment a buyer can search from its agreed pricing
- Custom roles restrict individual permission groups to viewing or management
- The published offer does not charge per business-user seat
Watch out for
- The platform requires an annual minimum term
- Implementation and Subscriptions + Entitlements have separate commercial scope
Best for
- Businesses managing account-specific buying across complex catalogs and channels
