What it does

Elicit is an AI research tool. It searches academic papers and clinical trials, generates cited research reports, supports systematic literature reviews, and lets users organize sources in a library. The site offers sign up, pricing, documentation, and an API. A research agent gathers evidence and creates cited artifacts such as reports, tables, figures, and slides.

Elicit search covers 138 million academic papers and 545,000 clinical trials. The API reference documents v2 with production base URL https://elicit.com/api/v2. API access requires a Pro plan or above. The API can search papers and clinical trials, run reports and systematic reviews, manage a library and shared projects, and schedule recurring Research Agent work with routines. An MCP server is available for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and other MCP-compatible clients, authenticated via OAuth 2.0.
