What it does

Emburse combines expense capture, categorization and receipt review with travel management and spend analysis for finance teams. The suite includes several paid expense editions with different pricing and trials.

Emburse connects employee expenses with travel, invoice processing and finance review. Receipt capture and categorization happen before submission, while Assurance can flag exceptions before and after a report reaches an approver. The suite has several editions, so the expense workflow and subscription need to refer to the same product.

A report in Expense Professional

Sign in to the mobile app, photograph the receipt and use Autofill. Check the extracted details, save the item and select Sync to send it to the online wallet. On the website, New Expense Report collects wallet items into a named report with a date range. Completing that setup creates a draft.

Review unmatched receipts and the red warning markers before submitting. Matching card transactions and receipts can merge automatically when their dates and amounts agree. Individual entries remain editable in the draft. Submit for Approval asks for confirmation that the report is accurate; after submission its status becomes Pending Approval. Saving a receipt alone does not send a reimbursement request.

Published prices depend on the edition

Emburse Spend charges for people who submit an expense during the month. An approver who only reviews reports is not an active billable user.

Spend plan Advertised monthly price Main distinction
Basic $8 per active user Receipts, approvals and reimbursements
Plus $12 per active user Additional controls and accounting connections
Custom Quote Advanced auditing, analytics and ERP requirements

Spend is offered in English for companies in the US and Australia. Its 30-day trial is aimed at very small organizations; larger teams are directed to a demo. Expense Professional separately advertises a 14-day trial without a credit card and requires its own pricing discussion. Free mobile downloads and the separate Cards offer do not establish the price of an expense-management subscription.

Strengths

  • Mobile receipts sync to an online expense wallet
  • Draft warnings help locate missing report information
  • Spend bills submitting users rather than approval-only users

Watch out for

  • Spend availability is limited to the US and Australia
  • Suite editions have different pricing and setup paths
  • Receipt extraction and matching still need review

Best for

  • Finance teams reviewing employee expenses
  • Organizations coordinating travel and expense approvals
