What it does
Encyclopedia.com brings together entries from multiple encyclopedias and reference books across broad subject areas.
Search a subject when you want an overview drawn from published reference works. The category menu spans history, science, arts and social subjects, providing a route when a keyword search is too broad. Pay attention to the individual source of an entry as you read: the service aggregates reference works rather than presenting one uniform encyclopedia edition.
Check the cited reference work and its edition date on each result. Material from different publications can have different ages and rights; access through one search page does not make every entry reusable.
