What it does
Ente Auth is an open-source authenticator with desktop, mobile and web access, optional encrypted cloud backups and an account-free offline mode.
Ente Auth can sync codes through its backup service or run offline without an account. Choose that arrangement before importing tokens: offline codes stay on that device, so make an encrypted export before replacing or resetting it. With an account, the FAQ describes encryption on the device before synchronization. Keep the Ente recovery key independently reachable; it recovers the Ente account, while each protected website has its own backup codes. Auth does not generate those websites' recovery-code lists. Ente also says an existing account's recovery key cannot be rotated, even when its password changes.
