What it does
Ausvet Epitools provides specialist epidemiological calculators for prevalence, sampling, surveillance and diagnostic-test characteristics.
Ausvet Epitools is an open-access resource for epidemiological survey design and analysis. Its true-prevalence tool takes sample size, positive count, sensitivity, specificity and confidence settings, returning prevalence, predictive values, likelihood ratios and confidence information. The guide requires probability-like inputs as decimal proportions from zero to one. This route assumes sensitivity and specificity are known exactly; estimates below zero or above one are marked as inconsistent with those assumptions. Other Bayesian routes allow uncertainty through prior distributions. The general guide describes browser inputs sent to R, with result tables and, for many analyses, downloadable tab-delimited details.
Strengths
- Models distinguish sampling and pooling designs
- Tools account for test sensitivity and specificity
Best for
