What it does

ETF Research Center provides fund screening, holdings research, overlap comparisons and portfolio analysis. Fund Focus looks at underlying fundamentals, while Fund Overlap and Stock Locator reveal shared securities. Portfolio Builder combines funds to examine aggregate allocations and valuation measures.

Enter an ETF ticker in the site’s search box to open its fund research. If you only know the name, use the fund search first. Fund Focus examines the businesses an ETF owns; Stock Locator approaches the same question from a company’s ticker. These views help distinguish a fund’s name from its actual exposures.

For a direct comparison, open Fund Overlap, enter tickers under Fund 1 and Fund 2, then choose Find Overlap. Results include shared holdings, overlap by weight and sector differences. The public result shows the top five overlapping positions; a free Basic account unlocks the full list. To examine more than two ETFs together, use Portfolio Builder.

Account Monthly price Useful distinction
Basic $0 Watchlists and complete results for free tools
Individual $29 Fundamental research and two saved portfolios
Professional $99 Saved portfolios, PDF tearsheets and custom reports

Paid subscriptions include a one-month free trial. Complete holdings coverage depends on the ETF issuer, so check that availability when holdings detail is the reason for subscribing. Portfolio Builder adds an aggregate view of sector and geographic exposure, with valuation measures and benchmark comparisons.

Strengths

  • Shows shared holdings and overlap weights for an ETF pair
  • Connects individual-company searches with ETF ownership
  • Portfolio tools aggregate allocation and valuation measures

Watch out for

  • Fund Overlap compares only two ETFs at a time
  • Complete holdings coverage is limited to supported issuers

Best for

  • ETF investors checking duplicate company exposure
  • Researchers comparing portfolio fundamentals with a benchmark
