What it does

Ethplorer is an Ethereum token explorer with address portfolios, transfer histories and historical balance charts. You can label addresses and transactions and export an address history with historical prices as CSV. Public browsing and browser-stored notes work without registration; API keys and larger-scale monitoring have separate access rules.

From an address to an export

Search by token name, symbol, address or transaction hash. An address view brings holdings and transfers together, while token pages show price, volume and activity. Notes and tags can be stored in your browser, and their data can be exported or imported as JSON. An optional profile lets you back up that information for use in other browsers.

The Watching service sends email or Telegram notifications for incoming and outgoing activity. For a spreadsheet, export the address transaction history as CSV, including its notes and historical prices.

Developer access has different limits

The standard API, a software interface for retrieving data, supports token details, balances and transaction history. Its shared development key is limited to two requests per second and 1,000 per day. Hourly and weekly caps also apply. Ethplorer says that key is unsuitable for production.

A free personal key requires an account and is documented at ten requests per second. Bulk API Monitor is a separate service for tracking pools of addresses or token contracts, with free and paid levels based on monitored activity. The standard API also requires an Ethplorer reference or relevant direct links when its data is used.

Strengths

  • CSV address-history exports can include notes and historical prices
  • Tags and notes can be used without registration
  • Personal API keys have higher limits than the shared development key

Watch out for

  • The shared development API key has several rate and history limits
  • Standard API use requires attribution or Ethplorer links
  • Bulk monitoring charges depend on the amount of tracked activity

Best for

  • People organizing Ethereum address histories for spreadsheets
  • Developers tracking token activity across lists of addresses
