What it does

Evidence Cloud hosts analytical reports authored with SQL, Markdown and report components. Its service combines a code-based reporting workflow with team access controls, an analytics agent and commercial hosting.

Evidence Cloud brings SQL, Markdown and report components together in hosted analytical reports. It is useful when a chart needs an explanation beside it, or when a data team wants to review reporting changes through code. The current managed editor is presented as Evidence Studio.

Create an account with email or one of the supported identity providers to use the hosted editor. The quickstart opens an empty report with Markdown on the left and a preview on the right. Edit the report, check the preview, and choose Share > Publish to create its published URL.

For a GitHub workflow, connect GitHub in the organization settings, then use the project's Version Control settings to select the repository, published branch and root directory. Saving those settings and publishing connects the report to that workflow. Teams can use pull requests when changes need review before reaching the published branch.

Team is a monthly subscription with unlimited users and projects, page-level access controls, exports and scheduled email delivery. It includes a monthly AI-credit allowance. Enterprise adds row-level rules, customer-facing embedding and more advanced identity controls. The service offers a 30-day trial. Choose the access level around the audience: restricting an entire report page is different from letting each customer see only their own rows.

Strengths

  • Keeps analytical explanations and queries alongside report components.
  • A repository-based workflow supports reviewing report changes as code.

Watch out for

  • Hosted row-level access rules and customer embedding require Enterprise.

Best for

  • Data teams publishing reports that need narrative and reviewable SQL
