What it does
EWWW Image Optimizer offers image optimization and a compression API for new uploads, with controls over generated image sizes.
New WordPress uploads optimize automatically. For older files, use Optimize Local Images to review the count and start the background queue introduced in 7.4; the legacy bulk screen instead needs an open window and supports resume. Choose thumbnail sizes and extra folders deliberately. Free local optimization runs tools on your website server and needs compatible PHP exec support; a cloud fallback has narrower free formats. Paid Easy IO delivery advertises unlimited images, but its 50/200/400 GB bandwidth tiers and separate Compress API credits still apply.
