What it does
Quad Remesher rebuilds a mesh into mostly four-sided polygons inside applications such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max and Houdini. You can set the intended polygon count and control how density follows curved areas. Perpetual and three-month licences are available, with a separate noncommercial Indie option.
Remesh a selected object
Select exactly one mesh, set Target Quad Count, and choose Adaptive Size. A value of zero aims for evenly sized quads; higher values make smaller quads in curved areas. Press REMESH IT to create a new result object and hide the input mesh.
Target Quad Count is an estimate. With Adaptive Quad Count off, the algorithm gives more weight to staying near that count. Turning it on prioritizes shape detail and can add many more polygons. This distinction matters when preparing a mesh for a fixed polygon budget.
Choose the host and licence
The standard options cover one non-CAD host application. VAT is extra.
| Licence | Term | Commercial use |
|---|---|---|
| Perpetual Pro | One-time purchase | Yes |
| Perpetual Indie | One-time purchase | No |
| Subscription | Three months | Yes |
All-software licences are available with or without CAD support. Fusion 360 requires a CAD licence. Nomad Sculpt on iPad is a separate App Store purchase and is excluded from these desktop licences.
The 30-day trial is for noncommercial evaluation and needs internet access. Perpetual licences include minor updates; major upgrades cost extra. The Cinema 4D plugin is restricted to users registered before the R26 release, so it is not a new-user purchase option.
Strengths
- Painted vertex colours can vary the quad density across a mesh.
- Paid licences support offline use and an offline activation procedure.
Watch out for
- The Indie licence excludes professional and other for-profit work, including content made for a commercial client.
- A host application's demo can block remeshing if it disables the import/export functions the plugin uses.
Best for
- Artists rebuilding scan or sculpt meshes inside a supported 3D application
- Modellers controlling the balance between polygon count and curved detail
