What it does
Aptos Explorer is the official website for Aptos transactions, account resources, validators and chain activity. Read-only exploration does not require a connected wallet; optional wallet actions such as staking have separate signing requirements.
Select the network before searching. A mainnet transaction and the same identifier on testnet do not refer to the same record. Search accepts an account or Aptos name, transaction hash or version, block height, and coin identifiers. Shared links preserve the selected network.
For an execution, begin with Overview to inspect its status, sender, gas and function. Balance Change includes asset movements and gas costs; Events shows execution logs, while Payload and Changes separate the request from the resulting resource writes. A failed transaction can still be recorded on-chain.
Older pages need care. When normal history is unavailable, the explorer tries archive data and then an indexer reconstruction. The latter displays a banner and may lack arguments, events or hashes. An apparently sparse page is not proof that the original transaction had no effects.
Settings stores preferences in this browser. Switch between UTC and local display times, or enable browser-based bytecode decompilation after reading its limitations. Decompiled code reconstructs instructions and cannot recover the author’s original names and comments.
Optional API-key overrides can replace the shared anonymous data allowance. Keys normally last for the session; Remember on this device persists them locally. Use that option only on a computer you control. Save refreshes data clients, and Restore Defaults clears the explorer’s preferences.
Strengths
- Account pages expose stored Move resources as structured data
- Module views can compare published versions
- Browser settings keep timestamp display consistent with a chosen time zone
Watch out for
- Reconstructed older transactions can omit fields available in full history
- Decompiled code is not the original source text
Best for
- Aptos users checking an execution’s status and balance effects
- Developers comparing account resources or published module versions
