What it does
Fiddler AI provides observability for traditional machine-learning models, LLM applications, and multi-step AI agents. Its monitoring workflows can track model performance, data drift, integrity, fairness, latency, and related quality metrics, then help teams investigate issues with alerts and explainability tools. The product is aimed at data science and AI engineering teams that need to evaluate or monitor model behavior, rather than teams looking for general host, network, or website uptime monitoring.
Choose a monitoring path for the system you have
Fiddler's quick-start documentation asks teams to choose between monitoring an AI agent, a simple LLM application, a traditional ML model, pre-deployment evaluation, or safety guardrails. For an existing predictive model, start with the ML path, connect a representative sample of production data, and define the metrics or segments that matter. Fiddler documents performance tracking, data-drift detection, integrity checks, fairness analysis, custom metrics, alerts, and root-cause investigation. For an agentic application, use the framework-specific integration path or its OpenTelemetry option to follow multi-step work.
A useful tip from the quick-start guide is to use sample data before connecting production systems, then combine monitoring with evaluation and apply guardrails to both inputs and outputs where that is relevant. The product can surface a drift or quality signal, but changing a model, prompt, or deployment remains a separate engineering decision.
The current pricing page separates a free guardrails tier from paid Developer observability and an Enterprise tier. The free tier is not the same as a free general-purpose monitoring plan: unified AI observability is listed with the Developer offering, and Enterprise adds deployment options such as VPC or on-premises. The public page lists usage-based pricing for Developer; the exact rate is intentionally not repeated here.
Strengths
- Separates quick-start paths for agentic AI, simple LLM applications, traditional ML models, evaluation, and guardrails.
- Documents production monitoring for drift, model performance, data integrity, fairness, traffic, and custom metrics.
- Can connect to agent frameworks and OpenTelemetry workflows rather than limiting instrumentation to a single model SDK.
Watch out for
- Its focus is model and AI application behavior; teams still need separate tooling for general infrastructure metrics, logs, and website uptime.
Best for
- Monitoring deployed ML models for data drift, performance, or cohort-level fairness issues
- Tracing multi-step LLM or agent workflows and checking their quality over time
- Teams combining model monitoring with offline experiments and safety checks
