What it does
Filee converts documents, media, ebooks, archives, data, and other file types. Its desktop workflow presents suitable targets when files are dragged onto the conversion interface.
Select several files and drop them onto an appropriate output format; converted files appear beside their sources. Some format families need optional engines such as FFmpeg, calibre, or LibreOffice, while others are built in. Check the format catalogue and engine setup before planning an offline job, especially for older office formats or specialist ebooks.
Windows 10/11 and Linux are full releases; macOS is labelled a preview. Linux's drag gesture requires X11, with more limited or experimental Wayland routes. The app says conversion runs locally without an account, while optional engines and updates need Internet access. Presets control output folders/names and originals' dates; watch-folder mode can move originals aside, so that option changes the source-file workflow.
Strengths
- Makes format choices available directly from a desktop drag workflow.
Watch out for
- Some conversions require separately installed optional engines.
Best for
- Desktop users repeatedly converting mixed file types
