What it does

Finix combines online and in-person collection, invoices, payment links, subscriptions, usage billing and payout reporting. Its regional documentation covers the United States and Canada. Merchants and software platforms use different account arrangements, with paid production service and separate sandbox access for testing.

Choose Direct Merchant during signup if you collect for your own business. Software Platform and Marketplace dashboards serve businesses onboarding other sellers. Live access requires Finix to evaluate the business and integration; a sandbox account cannot move real funds.

To bill a customer, open Payment Tools, Invoices and Create Invoice. Enter an internal name, dates, buyer and line items, then choose the allowed payment methods and whether to accept partial payments. The preview updates as you complete the form. Create and Send Invoice follows the selected email or manual-delivery option.

Use Payment Attempts on the invoice to inspect succeeded, failed, pending or canceled attempts. Bank payments need particular attention: a submitted transfer first counts as processing, then moves to paid when the settlement is approved. The guide also describes automatic application after seven days without a settlement event.

The published US direct-merchant Standard offer has a $250 monthly membership. Visa, Mastercard and Discover processing adds $0.15 per transaction to pass-through interchange, dues and assessments; American Express adds 0.30% plus $0.15. Invoicing and subscription billing each carry a listed 0.40% fee, and a dispute costs $30. Businesses processing more than $1 million annually can request custom rates.

Platform pricing is separate, including sub-merchant onboarding and active-account charges. Use the schedule for the correct account type, and confirm the settlement cycle and any reserve terms before going live.

Strengths

  • Link Sharing History records recipients, delivery methods, timestamps and delivery success or failure.
  • Invoices can offer cards, bank accounts, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay and Afterpay where configured.

Watch out for

  • A bank return can reopen an invoice that already showed Paid, including after a considerable delay.
  • Card-security noncompliance incurs a $35 monthly charge until remedied.

Best for

  • Merchants tracking invoice payment attempts and settlement
  • Software businesses choosing between direct and seller-platform payments
