What it does

Float connects accounting transaction data with short-term cash-flow forecasts. It provides monthly, weekly and 13-week views, scenario controls and collaboration on individual records.

Float starts with the cash movements already recorded in Xero or QuickBooks Online. It imports invoices, bills, bank transactions and reconciled balances from the accounting system, rather than connecting directly to the bank. Data syncs every 24 hours, with a manual refresh when you need the latest accounting changes.

Use the weekly or 13-week view to examine near-term commitments, then change expected invoice or bill dates and compare scenarios. For example, a later customer payment can be considered alongside a planned purchase. These are assumptions about timing, so keeping the accounting records current matters. Comments can be attached to a budget line, invoice, bill or payment and assigned to a colleague with a mention.

Single-company and group pricing

These GBP prices exclude VAT. The annual column is the monthly equivalent when billed annually.

Plan Monthly billing Annual equivalent Scope
Small Business £99 £79 One company below £2 million annual revenue; 12-month forecast
Growth £199 £159 One company; 36-month forecast and included onboarding
Scale £295 £235 Up to five companies, group consolidation and priority support

Each plan includes unlimited users, eight scenarios and a 13-week forecast. Small Business revenue is measured from the last complete financial year in the accounting data; guided onboarding costs an optional £99.

Start the 14-day trial without a card, then use Connect a company to authorize access to the accounting system. Each entity needs its own connection. Admins manage users, Editors change the forecast, and Viewers have read-only access. CSV and PDF exports let the team share the resulting forecast outside Float.

Strengths

  • Imports invoice and bill details for cash-timing decisions
  • Comments can stay attached to the specific record being discussed
  • Separate scenarios let teams compare changes before using them in the main forecast

Watch out for

  • Requires Xero or QuickBooks Online rather than a direct bank connection
  • Small Business forecasts stop at 12 months

Best for

  • Finance teams following near-term cash commitments
