What it does
Font Awesome provides icon assets and integration tools for web and desktop projects. It supports hosted Kits, self-hosting and component libraries, with a free distribution and paid Pro or Pro+ styles.
Choose the delivery method first. A hosted Kit manages the icons for a project through a Font Awesome account. From Your Kits, choose Add New Kit, select the available library or subset, then copy the embed code into the head of each page that uses it. Add the icon’s style and name as classes, such as fa-solid fa-user.
For local assets, the public @fortawesome/fontawesome-free package includes the free web fonts, SVGs, CSS and supporting files. Free package installation does not need a token. Pro packages require an active plan and package token; Pro+ icons are supplied through Kit packages.
Hosted Kits have monthly pageview allowances, and individual-icon or style subsetting is a Pro feature. A free Kit includes the free Solid, Regular and Brands collection. Check the style as well as the name when copying an icon.
Font Awesome Free uses CC BY for SVG/JavaScript icons, OFL for fonts and MIT for other code. Keep its embedded attribution comments. Major-version migration guides matter, and even minor releases can include documented compatibility changes.
