What it does
FontDrop! is Viktor and Clemens Nübel’s browser font-inspection tool. It reads OTF, TTF, WOFF and WOFF2 files and provides text previews, glyph details, font metadata and separate comparison reports.
Use Drop your font file or Or choose a file to examine a font without installing it. Start with its version and naming data, then use Type Yourself to enter your wording and change size or line height. The site says processing happens in the browser. FontDrop! is available without an account or payment, with optional donations supporting maintenance.
The Subpages menu opens more focused tools. Compare places two fonts side by side and can synchronize size and line height. Search Glyphs accepts a glyph name, character or Unicode value such as U+0041; Vertical Metrics Report exposes the values that influence line placement.
A feature switch does not guarantee a visible change. FontDrop! warns that some complex substitutions cannot be visualized, and its language report checks encoded characters against a limited database. Treat a detected language as a starting point for examining real text, rather than proof of complete language support.
