What it does
FootageBank licenses stock footage for broadcast, streaming and theatrical productions. Its collection includes contemporary large-format material, sports, locations and footage cleared for screen playback, with rights and releases specified by clip.
Search with plain words and use NOT to exclude an unwanted term. The team also offers free research and can return a clip bin for your brief. Available files range from HD to larger formats, so the individual clip’s specifications determine whether it fits the edit.
Open the Pricing control at the top right of a clip preview to choose the intended usage. For an online purchase, add the clips to the cart, complete the pricing choices, accept the agreement and pay. Master files are linked from the receipt and Order History. Uses outside the price matrix require an enquiry.
A rights-managed licence covers the use recorded on the receipt or purchase order. Release status is stated in the clip description; a missing release statement does not mean the people or property are cleared. Film scanning is a separate service for existing 16 mm or 35 mm material.
Strengths
- Clip-level pricing connects the licence fee to the intended use.
- The FAQ explains checkout and where purchased master files appear.
Watch out for
- Uses outside the price matrix require a custom quote.
- Release status varies by clip.
Best for
- Productions licensing footage for a defined broadcast, streaming or film use
