What it does

FormKit Icons provides original SVG symbols through the @formkit/icons package and FormKit’s icon system. Its documentation also covers custom and third-party artwork.

For a password field, pair the eye and closed-eye symbols with the suffix-icon click handler to express visibility state. File inputs have separate item and removal icon props, while select inputs expose their own control icon. These hooks make the library particularly useful when a form needs a consistent visual vocabulary.

Register the icons you know you will use in iconRegistry. FormKit can fetch missing names from a CDN, but its documentation recommends local registration for expected artwork. Custom loaders are fallbacks for missing icons, which is useful in a form builder where the choice is not known in advance.

Install the public @formkit/icons package and register its imports in the FormKit configuration; this local route has no FormKit account step. The original non-brand collection is free under MIT; brand marks and third-party libraries retain their respective rights.

Strengths

  • Icon props cover common form controls and click handlers.
  • Local registration and fallback loading address predictable and dynamic icon choices.

Watch out for

  • Unregistered missing icons can trigger runtime CDN requests.
  • Brand and third-party artwork is not covered by the original set’s blanket MIT statement.

Best for

  • FormKit forms
  • Form builders with configurable icon choices
