What it does
Formspark handles storage, notifications and integrations for forms built into your own website. You keep the HTML and styling, then send answers to a Formspark endpoint. Capacity belongs to a workspace and is bought in non-expiring bundles.
Create a form in the signed-in dashboard and copy its endpoint from the How-to tab. Put that URL in your HTML form's action attribute and use method="POST". Give each input, select and textarea a name; names starting with an underscore are reserved controls and will not become stored answer fields.
For your own thank-you page, add a hidden _redirect field containing its URL. Submitted values are normally appended to that destination. Add _append with the value false to stop that. For a JavaScript submission requesting JSON, _redirect is ignored: your code must display the confirmation or change the page.
The first workspace gets 250 free submissions that do not expire, with 10 forms and five members. This is a one-off allowance, not a monthly refill. Additional workspaces start at zero. An upgrade adds a 50,000-submission bundle and raises capacity to 100 forms and 50 members. Purchases are made once, apply to one workspace and do not renew automatically.
Free and upgraded workspaces include exports, webhooks, Slack and Zapier. The upgrade adds autoresponses, the REST API for custom integrations, Google Sheets and Notion. Spam rejected by the filter does not consume submissions. When capacity runs out, a small overflow buffer temporarily holds entries until another purchase; further excess entries are discarded.
Strengths
- Works with an existing site's HTML and styling.
- Purchased submission capacity does not expire or renew automatically.
Watch out for
- Entries beyond the overflow buffer are discarded.
- Additional workspaces do not receive the initial free submission allowance.
Best for
- Website developers who want hosted form handling without a recurring subscription
