What it does
fping is a command-line ICMP probing utility designed for checking multiple hosts and collecting network diagnostic statistics.
Give fping a list of target addresses through arguments or standard input. It rotates across the list, and can stop after a chosen count or keep looping with periodic summaries. Quiet and response-time output modes suit scripts, while retry, timeout and interval settings define what “unreachable” means for that run. The result concerns ICMP replies from the test machine, so check the application separately when needed. The current repository documents privileged raw-socket access or an unprivileged mode on supported macOS/Linux configurations; Linux group-range settings determine whether that mode works. Source redistribution follows the project’s published license.
