What it does
MailMate is an IMAP email client for macOS. It combines Markdown composition, smart mailboxes, advanced search and cryptographic signing/encryption using OpenPGP and S/MIME.
MailMate is aimed at people who spend much of their day in email and prefer keyboard-driven work. Markdown composition, smart mailboxes and detailed search conditions share the application with OpenPGP and S/MIME signing or encryption. It is an IMAP client for an existing mailbox, so the address and provider can remain in place. The current homepage directs downloads to a beta and links licensing changes, details worth reviewing before a managed Mac deployment.
The license model is unusual. Trial Mode leads to subscription Paid Mode; after paid access ends, Free Mode retains features. Business use still requires Paid Mode, while non-profit use does not. Trial and Free modes identify themselves in outgoing client headers, so the distinction can be visible to correspondents.
