What it does

Gate offers spot, margin and contract markets alongside account tools and developer interfaces. Its website supports funded spot purchases and order-history checks, while API v4, its connection for other software, separates market data from permitted account actions.

Buying from a USDT balance

After registration, complete identity verification in Personal Center. To deposit USDT, choose Deposit, select USDT and its network, then use the displayed address. The withdrawal network at the sending platform must match that selection.

Open Trade → Spot Trading and search for the required USDT pair at the upper left. Enter the quantity or spending amount, choosing a market order or a limit with your chosen price. Review the details before submitting. Completed purchases can be checked under Wallet → Spot Account.

Following the order afterward

The top navigation's Orders → Spot Orders page separates Current Orders, Order History and Transaction History. Filter by transaction type and time range to find an instruction or its completed trades.

Unmatched limit orders remain open until filled or canceled. Cancellation has no separate charge and returns the reserved funds. A buy limit above the current market can execute immediately at a better available price, rather than waiting at the exact number entered.

Giving software the right access

Gate API v4 separates spot, margin, contract, wallet and withdrawal permissions. A key can have read-only access to one area and trading access to another; withdrawal permission is distinct from wallet access.

An account can hold five keys, each with up to 20 allowed IPv4 addresses. Changes can take several minutes to apply. The live and testnet environments use different addresses, and futures testnet credentials must be created separately from live credentials. Match the environment and permissions before connecting an existing integration.

Fee records and eligibility

The beginner FAQ gives the spot fee calculation as trading amount multiplied by 0.10%, then by the applicable tier discount. The detailed spot guide distinguishes maker and taker rates and applies charges only to filled quantities.

To inspect a past charge, use Assets → Transaction History → Unified Account and select the coin, or open Spot → Trade History. Withdrawal fees vary by coin and network and appear on the withdrawal screen.

The global service requires age 18 or the higher local legal age, plus legal capacity. Its restricted list is extensive and includes the US, Canada, UK, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Germany and the Netherlands. A regional Gate-branded service can operate under different terms; check the entity and country list for the account you intend to use.

Strengths

  • API keys allow separate permissions for trading products, wallet access and withdrawals
  • Order records distinguish pending instructions, past orders and completed transactions

Watch out for

  • Futures testnet access requires separate credentials from the live environment

Best for

  • Eligible global Gate users who need spot orders and configurable account integrations
