What it does
Gemini ActiveTrader combines crypto order books, market orders and configurable chart layouts within a Gemini account. It can display two markets at once and settle supported dollar or stablecoin trades through shared order books. Availability depends on the customer’s jurisdiction.
Check the country before setting up a workspace
Gemini's current closure notice sets 6 April 2026 as the end date for customer accounts in the UK, EEA and Australia. New customers in those regions cannot use Gemini for trading. Older help pages mentioning local currencies there should not be read as current signup invitations.
The availability page still lists the US states and selected other countries. Gemini accepts adults from age 18 who can legally enter its agreement and complete identification checks.
Turn on ActiveTrader and arrange the screen
On the website, enable the ActiveTrader interface in Profile Settings. In the mobile app, open the top-left menu and turn on the ActiveTrader mode switch.
The website's Layout Settings offers Single Market and Dual Market presets. Add a custom layout from a preset or a blank workspace, then place the modules you need. These include Open Orders, Trade History, TradingView and depth charts.
Modules can share a tab group. Drag an edge to resize the group; use its plus button to add another module or the tab's X to remove one. This is useful when a second chart matters more than a large history panel, or when two markets need to remain visible.
Market buys use a spending total
Choose the pair from the upper-left selector, then find the order form on the right. Select Buy → Market and enter Total, which is the amount of the currency funding the purchase. Review and submit.
For a market sell, Quantity instead means the amount of crypto to sell. These orders match resting orders at the best prices available when they execute; the workspace does not fix a future sale price.
Shared liquidity, chosen settlement currency
Supported USD, GUSD, RLUSD and USDC pairs can use the same underlying order book. Settlement follows the currency selected for the order. For example, a BTC/USD sale pays USD even if it matches a buyer spending a supported stablecoin.
The combined-book arrangement adds no separate conversion charge. Normal trading fees still apply in the quote currency, and trades count toward the account's fee tier. Availability of each stablecoin remains region-specific.
ActiveTrader uses maker and taker tiers based on trading volume. When subaccounts are used, their trading volume is considered together for the tier. Check the applicable ActiveTrader schedule before submitting orders. Developers can also use Gemini's APIs, connections for other software using WebSocket, FIX or REST for market information and account operations.
