What it does
Aleph brings finance data into a shared platform with transformation rules, Excel and Google Sheets add-ins, dashboards and financial reporting workflows. Finance teams buy a quoted subscription and can work through Excel or Google Sheets.
An existing finance workbook can remain the working model in Aleph. The platform first brings source data together, maps fields, combines tables and stores calculated metrics. Its Excel and Google Sheets add-ins then connect that data with reports and planning sheets.
Pull data on demand or on a schedule, and push budgets or scenarios back into Aleph for other analyses. Transfers can cover a whole spreadsheet or selected cells. The custom-function builder brings data into a cell using a calculation similar to SUMIF, while pivot tables provide a more aggregated view.
When a number changes, double-click the connected spreadsheet data to inspect the underlying records. Scan can also draft notes about a variance. Those notes are a starting point for checking the contributing data, rather than a substitute for the finance team's interpretation. Scheduled refreshes and event triggers can coordinate updates across several sheets.
Team and user permissions control access to sensitive data. Dashboards provide a sharing view for people who need to inspect results without working in the reporting model itself.
Aleph offers a trial with full feature access, with the option to cancel and remove data. Paid pricing is quoted for the engagement. It is aimed at teams whose financial models already live in spreadsheets and whose main difficulty is bringing source data and reporting updates together. A complex statutory consolidation project requiring a full eliminations engine is a different requirement to assess separately.
Strengths
- Existing Excel and Google Sheets models can remain part of the workflow.
- Whole-sheet or cell-level transfers support selective data updates.
- Spreadsheet drill-downs connect reported figures with their source records.
Watch out for
- Spreadsheet reporting and data preparation do not cover every complex statutory consolidation requirement.
Best for
- Finance teams keeping existing spreadsheet planning models
- Analysts consolidating data from accounting, staffing and commercial systems
