What it does

Canopy combines client records, documents, intake, billing and communication with practice-management workflows for accounting and tax firms. Plans share the core suite, with higher tiers adding more controls and reporting. A sales-arranged trial is available, and ongoing access is charged per user.

Canopy uses client management as the foundation for a firm's practice workflow. Documents, intake, communication and billing sit around those records, while tasks keep the work attached to the client. The core suite is included across plans; tier differences mainly concern capacity and more advanced controls.

Request the documents an engagement needs

Use the global + button and select Client Request. Name the request, select the client, add instructions and assign the responsible team members. It can also be attached to an existing task.

Set the due date and reminders, then choose Send now, select the recipient contacts and send. Save as draft keeps it for review and does not start reminders.

A reminder schedule can stop when the client completes the request, and clients can snooze reminders until the following Monday. Replies to the notification email go to the person who sent it; comments inside the request notify the assigned team member. Knowing that distinction helps avoid a reply sitting with the wrong colleague.

Annual-billing plans

Plan Price per user per month Position
Standard $74, billed annually Client records, documents, workflows, billing and portal
Plus $109, billed annually Adds controls, capacity planning and custom reporting
Premium $149, billed annually Announced advanced tier, marked coming soon
Enterprise Custom Tailored arrangements for large firms

Payment processing is separate: the published card rate is 3.30% + $0.20, while ACH bank payments cost 1%, capped at $10. Some tax and close functions have additional usage charges.

Trial and feature availability

Arrange a demonstration and ask the sales representative to set up trial access. Canopy determines trial eligibility and scope; when it ends, continued use requires a subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically, and the terms make cancellation effective at the end of the current term.

Coworker is now labelled beta. It can coordinate tasks through a Plan, Act, Review process, subject to the firm's permissions. Treat Premium's announced functions and other features marked coming soon separately when deciding what is available for the firm's work today.
