What it does
Harvest connects time tracking, project expenses, invoices and team reporting for professional service businesses. Select the billable work to include, review the invoice and let clients pay through a connected provider. A lasting free plan serves one person with two active projects, but sending its invoices requires a Stripe connection.
Harvest's billing workflow starts before an invoice exists: organize clients, projects and tasks, then log time against them. For an agency billing several projects to one client, this makes the underlying work available when the invoice is prepared.
In Invoices > Overview, choose New invoice, select the client and choose the tracked time, expenses or fixed fees option. Tasks must be marked billable and project rates must be entered for Harvest to calculate the amount. Select the projects and hours, use the detailed display if the client needs time entry notes, then review the draft's taxes and due date before saving or sending. Paid accounts can attach an expense report with uploaded receipts.
Plans and the free account's restrictions
The advertised starting prices are in US dollars:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Main difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | One active person and two active projects |
| Teams | From $11 per seat/month | From $108 per seat/year | Team reporting and integrations |
| Enterprise | From $17.50 per seat/month | From $168 per seat/year | Approvals, profitability reporting and activity logs |
| Enterprise Plus | Custom quote | Custom quote | Customization, integrations and onboarding |
The paid starting rate is not necessarily the whole bill. Flex billing adds charges above included usage allowances; Harvest also describes an Unlimited billing option. Use Settings > Billing to inspect projected usage and compare options for your account.
The 30-day trial needs no card. To keep using Free afterwards, choose Upgrade plan > Switch to free in Billing. Free cannot send invoices by email or export them as PDFs until Stripe is connected, and it excludes a company logo and file attachments.
An administrator connects Stripe or PayPal through Settings > Integrations. Payment options can then be turned off for an individual invoice. Processor eligibility and transaction charges still apply. Harvest's web invoices do not accept partial credit card payments, so a business taking staged payments should review that limitation before adopting the workflow.
