What it does
Ghostscript is a PDF and PostScript interpreter available as a command-line application or SDK. Its workflows include rendering, compression, PDF/A conversion, and print production.
A document pipeline can use Ghostscript to render previews, compress an existing PDF or prepare PDF/A output after document creation. Its CLI and SDK serve those processing tasks rather than interactive paragraph editing. Core Ghostscript is offered under AGPL with a separate commercial licence. Ghostscript Office adds Office-document inputs as a distinct commercial offering, so a PDF/PostScript installation does not by itself establish access to Word or Excel input conversion.
