What it does

GigSmart’s Get Gigs app offers several routes to work in the US: temporary shifts, residential projects and full-time or part-time vacancies. A worker profile brings together experience, education and other details for opportunities in the local area.

The type of work determines the next step. Flex listings are shift-based, G-Board covers full-time and part-time jobs, and the Projects route is for residential work. These should be compared separately when deciding between occasional bookings and a continuing position.

The worker profile supports a photo, summary and work history. Workers browse opportunities, apply and accept offers that suit their availability. After a shift, an approved timesheet triggers the earnings process described by the service. The platform advertises coverage across all 50 states, but the opportunities shown still depend on the area and industry. Its Worker Benefits Center provides an additional route for investigating benefit plans. Use the role, work location and timesheet requirements together when deciding whether a particular booking fits the schedule.

For shifts, payment depends on the business approving the timesheet, which can take up to three business days. Residential Project Work uses a payment arrangement agreed directly with the hirer, separate from the shift payout process.

Strengths

  • Separates shift work, regular vacancies and residential projects
  • Connects worker profiles with offers and timesheet-based payments

Best for

  • US workers comparing temporary shifts with other local work
