What it does
egPDF is an open-source PDF reader and editor with markup, forms, OCR, comparison, extraction, and print tools. Desktop, Android, and browser versions are described in its repository.
Open related PDFs in tabs, assign them to split panes and use Compare to jump both views to text differences. Combine copies selected pages between documents without moving the source pages. Save or Save As writes the result. Redact and Whiteout have different consequences: the documented redaction path rasterises the affected page on save, while Whiteout covers an area. UYAP files save as PDF copies and their e-signature is not verified. Browser fonts/printing and unsigned desktop builds are further deployment considerations.
Strengths
- Combines split-view review with comparison and document tools.
Watch out for
- The reviewed desktop builds are unsigned according to the repository.
Best for
- Comparing and reviewing PDFs in a developing open-source application
