What it does
ameshkov's dnslookup is a command-line DNS client supporting UDP, TCP, DoH, DoT, DoQ and DNSCrypt queries.
dnslookup uses the system resolver when none is supplied, or accepts an explicit server and transport for a reproducible comparison. The README shows UDP, TCP, TLS, HTTPS, QUIC and DNSCrypt forms, including a separate IP for an encrypted resolver hostname. Select the record type and class deliberately; defaults are A and IN, while an IP input can become a PTR query when no type is set. JSON output is available for scripts. The DNSSEC option sets the request’s DO bit, which should not be confused with proof of local validation. Keep certificate verification enabled for normal encrypted queries. The client is MIT licensed; resolver service terms remain separate.
