What it does
MassDNS is a high-volume DNS stub resolver with domain-list input, response-code filters and configurable resolver and retry behavior.
Supply a domain file and resolver list, then choose record type, concurrency, retries and response-code filters. MassDNS can write several formats, including newline-delimited JSON. Resolver selection is part of the evidence: the project warns that its bundled list is outdated and may contain unreliable or untrusted servers. High concurrency can overload resolvers; the retry interval applies to a name rather than imposing a global request rate. Normal operation does not require root, but the random-source IPv6 feature uses raw sockets and needs the relevant capability. The results describe responses from the selected resolvers, not an authoritative inventory of every domain.
