What it does

MPC-HC is a free open-source Windows audio and video player, with DirectShow filters and periodically updated internal codecs.

This repository is clsid2's continuation of MPC-HC. It uses LAV Filters for internal codecs and can also use third-party DirectShow filters. The current guide explains subtitle search, smaller playback-speed steps and video previews on the seek bar.

HDR playback requires choosing MPC Video Renderer or madVR in the output settings, so installing the player alone does not settle the rendering setup. The maintainer says codec updates and improvements continue but new feature requests are not accepted; choose it for the documented capabilities rather than an assumed roadmap.
