What it does
prettyping wraps the system ping command and renders its responses with colors and Unicode in a terminal.
Run prettyping with the host you would normally pass to ping. It wraps the system command, draws a compact latency/loss display and maintains statistics for both the latest 60 responses and the whole run. Unrecognized options pass through to ping. Disable Unicode or colors for a limited terminal, or redirect the output to a file; redirected mode avoids cursor-control escapes. The wrapper needs Bash, awk and a compatible ping output format. It adds no separate root requirement, but the user must already be able to run the underlying ping. The result still concerns that host and probe path.
Strengths
- Readable compact display around system ping
