What it does
DNSCrypt-Proxy is a DNS proxy supporting DNSCrypt, DNS over HTTPS and other documented encrypted-DNS protocols, with monitoring and policy options.
DNSCrypt-Proxy separates a device's ordinary DNS clients from the chosen upstream resolver protocol. Its README describes several encrypted-DNS modes and configurable resolver arrangements. Choose the upstream service and protocol deliberately, then plan how the host resolves names if that service is unavailable. Encrypting the resolver connection changes who can observe that link; it does not encrypt every application connection or establish anonymity. The proxy is a tool to operate, distinct from a hosted DNS provider.
