What it does
Fast Data Transfer is a Java application using asynchronous disk I/O and TCP streams to send datasets composed of many files.
FDT streams a dataset continuously through one or more TCP connections rather than restarting the transfer for every file. Its examples run a receiver and point the client at a host and destination directory, or use an SCP-style command that starts the remote process through SSH. The SSH mode requires a remote SSH server and valid shell account. Recursive pull and file-list inputs handle larger selections, while server lifetime and transfer rate are configurable. IP filtering limits allowed addresses but does not itself provide confidentiality; choose the documented authentication mode for the deployment.
Strengths
- Continuous dataset streaming and session resume
Best for
- Controlled transfers of large multi-file datasets

It is written in Java, runs an all major platforms and it is easy to use. FDT is based on an asynchronous, flexible multithreaded system and is using the capabilities of the Java NIO libraries. · GitHub (Oct 26, 2026)
