What it does
Fontaudio provides audio-software icons for plug-ins, digital audio workstations and related interfaces. Its files cover specialist controls such as filters and arpeggiators, with a ready-made font, SVG artwork and a JUCE wrapper. The free files use different licences for artwork, fonts and code.
Fontaudio is aimed at audio developers who need symbols beyond standard play and pause controls. Existing artwork is available in the font and svgs folders, so rebuilding the package is unnecessary unless you are adding icons.
For JUCE, add the fontaudio module to a project and use its shared IconHelper to draw the font or icons. The demo instructions show a toggle button switching between RoundswitchOff and RoundswitchOn. Custom SVG additions go into the svgs folder before running the documented build command; their paths must be flattened because the generator does not handle SVG transformations well.
SVG and JavaScript artwork uses CC BY 4.0, font files use SIL OFL 1.1, and supporting code uses MIT. The author provides a credit notice for a product’s licence file. Brand symbols should only identify their corresponding company or product. The JUCE demo instructions name older versions, so current-version compatibility is not established there.
Strengths
- Includes audio-specific controls that general interface libraries may omit.
- Supplies a prebuilt font and a JUCE module with a working-code example.
Watch out for
- The documented JUCE demo targets older JUCE versions.
- Custom SVG paths must be flattened before generating the font.
Best for
- Developers prototyping audio plug-ins or workstation interfaces
