What it does
uBlock Origin is a broad content blocker using filter lists and custom rules to block advertising, tracking and other selected web requests.
uBlock Origin combines established filter lists with detailed per-site request controls. Leave the basic mode in place unless a specific task needs the advanced request firewall, and deselect an overbroad list before adding more overlapping rules. Browser support is now a central constraint: the README records removal from the Chrome Web Store on 31 August 2026 and an ongoing Edge Manifest V2 transition. Manual Chromium installations usually do not auto-update. Firefox remains a documented installation route; uBlock Origin Lite is a separate implementation for newer Chromium extension rules.
