What it does
OpenMoji is a collaborative emoji project with SVG and PNG exports, metadata and original drawings. Its graphics use CC BY-SA 4.0, and experimental font distributions are also available.
OpenMoji is useful when a product needs the same emoji drawings across interfaces and exported materials. A classroom worksheet, for example, can use the black artwork without mixing several vendors’ emoji styles.
Choose a release for production work instead of the actively changing master branch. The release downloads include color and black SVGs, plus PNGs at 72 or 618 pixels. Developers can install openmoji from npm; exported files live in the black and color folders, with metadata in data/openmoji.json. If using a CDN, pin a version when you need the artwork to stay fixed.
The project marks SVG and PNG exports as production-ready, while its fonts remain experimental. Graphics may be used commercially, but credit OpenMoji and identify any changes. Adapted drawings you distribute must keep the same CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. The repository suggests a README, About screen or website footer as possible credit locations; its supporting code uses LGPL 3.0.
