What it does

Charm Icons is a 16 px outline library with SVG files and JavaScript helpers for inserting or replacing icons. It is inspired by Octicons, Lucide and Feather.

Charm is drawn on a 16-pixel grid for compact interface controls. Install charm-icons, import the symbols you need and pass them to placeIcons to replace elements marked with data-charm. Markup uses kebab-case names such as face-smile, while imports use PascalCase.

For individual operations, toSvg returns an SVG string, toElement creates an element and replaceElement replaces an existing node. Optional attributes control the output. Custom symbols can supply their own name, paths and keywords through the same helpers.

The CDN build contains the complete collection; selected module imports allow unused icons to be removed by the build. Raw SVG files are another delivery option. Charm is free under MIT, and the package can be installed locally without a product account. Keep its licence notice with redistributed files.

Strengths

  • The 16 px grid suits compact interface controls.
  • DOM helpers support both individual insertion and page replacement.

Watch out for

  • The CDN build includes the full collection rather than only selected imports.

Best for

  • Dense action toolbars
  • Small JavaScript interfaces
