What it does

Marp's CLI converts Markdown slide decks into HTML, PDF, PowerPoint, and images. It supports batch conversion, watch mode, notes, outlines, and several deployment routes.

Pass Markdown to the CLI for HTML, or select PDF/PPTX and image outputs. HTML normally sits beside the source; input-directory mode preserves a batch's directory structure, while ordinary multiple-path/glob conversion cannot use a single output-file option. PDF/PPTX/images need Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Normal PPTX holds rendered backgrounds with notes; experimental editable PPTX also needs LibreOffice Impress, loses notes and can reduce fidelity. Image mode can export all slides or only the first. Batch parallelism defaults to five and is adjustable. Local-file access is restricted unless explicitly enabled for trusted Markdown.

Strengths

  • Builds several slide-delivery formats from one Markdown source.

Watch out for

  • Editable PowerPoint export is experimental and can reduce visual fidelity.

Best for

  • Authors building repeatable slide decks from Markdown
