What it does
Ikonate is an SVG icon collection with documented controls for stroke width, color, line caps and joins, plus a custom export workflow.
Ikonate lets a developer choose how much styling control stays in the page. Export styled individual SVG files for a design handoff, or use inline SVG and a sprite when icons should inherit the interface's color and stroke treatment. The online export includes artwork and demonstration files.
With inline or sprite integration, CSS can adjust dimensions, stroke color, width, caps and joins. An image tag or background image uses the prepared artwork instead and does not expose those same internal styling controls. The repository also supplies a local build route for generic demos and sprites; open the sprite demo through a local server.
Accessibility still depends on the icon's role. Replace placeholder titles and descriptions with meaningful text, or remove them where the symbol is decorative. Ikonate is free under MIT licensing, with the license notice retained in redistributed material.
Strengths
- Stroke geometry and color can be adjusted through CSS with suitable integration.
- Individual SVG, inline and sprite workflows are documented.
Watch out for
- Image/background use does not expose the same CSS customization.
- Accessibility labels require implementation-specific decisions.
Best for
- Themeable SVG interfaces
- Developers choosing between SVG delivery methods
