What it does
BGPalerter monitors public routing data for prefix visibility, origin and path changes, ROA problems and other configured routing conditions.
Start with the AS and prefixes that should be watched, then use BGPalerter’s first-run configuration and inspect its local reports.log output. Additional report channels such as email, Slack or Kafka are configured in config.yml. The monitors cover conditions including visibility loss, unexpected origins or path neighbors, and ROA changes or expiry. BGPalerter connects to public routing repositories rather than devices inside your network, with monitoring performed in the application rather than on NTT servers. Its alerts therefore reflect those external feeds and configured conditions; compare them with local telemetry when investigating. The BSD-licensed software and the linked PacketVis hosted service are separate access routes.
Strengths
- External routing observations with several alert channels
