What it does
Kalker is a calculator for expressions, user-defined functions, vectors, matrices and numerical calculus.
Kalker uses mathematical expressions, variables and functions in a terminal or browser, with desktop and Android routes. Define a function once, reuse the previous answer with ans, or load a file of definitions for repeated work. It supports vectors, matrices and several number-base notations; underscore-style bases cannot use letters because those are parsed as variables. Newton-method solving estimates one root, while derivatives of noisy or higher-order functions and numerical integrals may be inaccurate. The project publishes a Rust calculation library and JavaScript/WebAssembly bindings. Its source uses the MIT licence.
Strengths
- User-defined functions, vectors and matrices
- Mathematical syntax and symbol completion
Watch out for
- Root finding is limited to one estimated root
- Numerical derivatives and integrals can be inaccurate
Best for
- Interactive scientific calculations with reusable functions
