What it does
SVG Loaders is Sam Herbert’s small collection of animated loading indicators for websites. Download the SVG vector files, embed one as an image and change its fill color in the file. The collection is free under the MIT licence, with no account needed for the public download.
A loader such as puff.svg can be included with a normal image element pointing to the downloaded file. To recolor it, edit the SVG’s fill attribute. This makes the collection useful when a page needs an activity symbol without adopting a complete icon library.
The project links a preview page and a repository ZIP. It also documents optional SVG minification and links a separate React adaptation. The core collection itself consists of SVG assets, so the React wrapper has its own installation route.
Animated SVG support matters for the environment displaying the icon. Check animated SVG support in the target browser and provide a fallback where needed. MIT permits free use and modification, provided its copyright and permission notice stays with copies.
Strengths
- Individual loading indicators can be embedded as ordinary image files.
- The fill attribute controls each loader’s color.
Watch out for
- The animation depends on support for animated SVG in the target environment.
Best for
- Web developers needing a small animated loading asset
