What it does
miniserve is a cross-platform command-line HTTP file server with optional authentication, address binding and TLS settings.
Point miniserve at a file or directory to make it downloadable from a reachable HTTP endpoint. Its single binary includes authentication and interface-binding options. Uploads are optional: enable them for all served paths or supply a restricted list, with directory creation controlled separately. Folder downloads can be built as ZIP or tar.gz archives. HTTPS requires a supplied certificate and key, so serving locally with the default HTTP setup and publishing an authenticated TLS endpoint are different configurations.
Strengths
- Self-contained command-line deployment
- Authentication and interface-binding options
Best for
- Short-lived HTTP access to a local file set
